Welcome to Jacksonville First United Methodist UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship)! We are excited you are here! Our mission is to be a resource for Parents, Guardians, Leaders and our Youth to grow in their faith walk and become deeply devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We are excited about what is happing in the Youth Program at JFUMC!!!
We invite you to join us in making life long connections driven by our calling of making disciples of Jesus Christ! We have several areas for adult leadership. Check out the many areas of opportunity we have! Click on the web link under the Team title (or copy it into your web browser) to go to the sign-up sheet.
Special Event Teams:
We are excited to offer several missions, events, trips, retreats and conferences which equip students with knowledge of God’s Word, a deeper faith and strong relationship with other believers. The role of the adult leader in this capacity is to work with the youth director, chair persons of the even and help other leaders and youth in regards to logistical aspects of the event and provide the presence of an adult leader in meeting safe sanctuary standards. (Select both links to see all events)
Sunday Night Meal Teams:
On Sunday Nights, we provide our youth a meal prior to small group discussions. The Meal team meets in the YAC at 5pm to prepare the meal. Youth arrive and eat from 6pm-6:15pm then disperse to their respected small groups. Following the meal, the meal team tidy up the kitchen (trash is taken out by the youth after small groups end). Providing a meal provides more than nutrition, it provides some relief, hope and a connection that lets others know we are thinking about them.
Sunday Night Discussion Leaders:
On Sunday Nights, our youth separates into three age groups for small group discussions (ages: 11-13 “Green Group”, 14 & 15 “Yellow Group” and 16-17 “Blue Group”). Our discussions are lively and energetic and run roughly 15-20 minutes. Following the discussion the entire youth group gathers together for our final activity. Discussion Leaders are provided lesson plans one month in advance.
Wednesday Night Discussion Leaders:
This discussion group runs simultaneous with our adult Bible study groups on Wednesday nights. The youth will meet in the connection center in rooms (c19& c22). The study is split into three sections for the duration of the study. Each session consist of scripture readings and engaging discussions. We are looking for adults to select one or more sections to review and lead discussions. Sections are as followed:
