One of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 139 vs 13, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb”. For me, this scripture speaks of God, the Unfathomable One that extends beyond our human capability of understanding. He shows love for us by knitting the intricate most inner parts of our being. I believe God’s grace continues by wooing us into reconciliation through Jesus Christ. Prevenient grace is the stage of grace in which God is operative in our lives long before we know or realize it or accept it for ourselves. This stage of grace is offered to all humankind. God is at work within our lives and inviting all to partake in the fullness of God’s grace. We find this is Charles Wesley’s,
Come, Sinners, to the Gospel Feast, “for God hath bid all humankind” (UHM 339).
To partake in the fullness of God’s grace is to experience reconciliation entering into a full relationship with God. This only comes through the righteousness and action of Jesus Christ. We are invited to reconciliation and grow in our faith through the influence of God which is administered by the Holy Spirit.
Thank you God for loving us so much that you knew us from before we were known by others. Thank you for walking with us each day drawing us closer to you. Thank you for loving us that we might love you.
As we grow in You from day to day, may our thoughts, heart, words, actions be as Yours. Help us be the body of Christ in the world. We pray others see Christ in us. Amen.
