One of our members, Cindy Kyser Buck, approached Pastor Nate concerning a new organization she is a part of. Better Angels is a bipartisan, citizen’s movement that is working to depolarize America, one conversation at a time.
After the 2016 Presidential election, members of the two main political parties, Republicans and Democrats, came together to begin to heal the divide and learn about how to have better conversations. The organization has begun to bear fruit in that people are actually sitting and talking through issues rather than arguing.
With this in mind, we are excited to welcome Better Angels to our Church on December 8th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, in the Connection Center, for a Skills Workshop. Attendees will learn how to have richer, more fulfilling conversation with a focus on listening and speaking to those who may not agree with you. You will also have a chance to practice these skills.
If you would like to attend this free event, click on the link below to register. If you have any problems registering online, please call the Church Office (501-982-8176) and we will assist you. We hope you will join us; it can have a great impact upon our community and this country!
“We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory…will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”– Abraham Lincoln, 1861 (First Inaugural Address)
