Thoughts on Psalm 139

One of the practices I appreciate is using “stream of consciousness” to consider the meaning of a text.  First, I start with a biblical text.  In this practice, sometimes phrases arise above others.  Then I take the phrase and allow my mind to ruminate on it and see where it takes me.

Example of same phrase: You knit me together in my mother’s womb: When you knit you tie items together-God had a relationship with me before I was even born.  When you knit, you create an item-God had a plan for me to be something.

Studying scripture can be practiced in different ways, and God can use such practices to reveal God’s self to us.  Consider taking a phrase and allow your mind to run with the phrase and see where it leads.
